Montenegro announces the launch of a program to obtain citizenship through investments
On July 26, 2018, the government of Montenegro announced the launch of a program to obtain citizenship through investments. The program will begin to operate from October 2018.
Foreigners will be able to obtain the citizenship of Montenegro by investing in the economy of the country.
There are several investment options. This is an infusion of 450 thousand euros in projects approved by the government in developed regions of the country or investments of 250 thousand euros in projects in less developed regions.
Passports will be issued only 2 thousand foreign citizens during the first three years of the program. First they will be given the status of permanent resident of Montenegro, and they can become a citizen six months later
